Before you go delete your Instagram account on an iPhone, it’s important to understand the consequences of the action you’re about to take.

How to delete your Instagram account on an iPhone

If you decide to delete your Instagram account, you won’t be able to log in using that username or password ever again, meaning you’ll lose all your pictures and any comments you’ve made on other people’s pictures. That said, if you’re absolutely sure that you want to delete your Instagram account on an iPhone, here are the steps you can take to do so from an iPhone.

Open the Settings app

If you’re using a very old version of iOS, open Settings from your iPhone’s home screen and scroll down until you see Instagram.

  • On newer versions of iOS, like 10 and up, open Instagram by tapping its icon on your home screen.
  •  In either case, tap Your Account in Settings and then tap Delete Account. Your password needs to be entered.

Tap on Instagram

  • Instagram has some deceptively easy-to-understand privacy controls.
  • Navigate from your Profile page and tap in your bio at the top of screen.
  • You’ll see a list of options that’ll include About Me, Contact & Privacy, and Delete Account.
  • Tap Delete Account, and you will be prompted to enter your password (or login info) for verification purposes.

Tap Delete Account and confirm your choice

First, tap Delete Account. You'll see a pop-up message asking you to confirm that you really want to go through with deleting your account.

Tap Remove [your username] from Instagram. If there's no Remove option (meaning you're not logged in), scroll down and tap Log out of My Profile first, then follow these steps. This will take you back to Instagram, where you'll see a button that says Delete Your Account Now—tap it!

Navigate to settings. Once there, select Instagram. Scroll down and tap Your Account on any device you have installed.
